The International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP)
The International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) is a global nonprofit organization for medical publication professionals. Established in 2005, ISMPP (pronounced “IzMap”) aims to become the leading global authority on the ethical and effective communication of medical research to inform treatment decisions. Its mission is to advance the medical publication and communication professions globally through: enhanced integrity and transparency in medical publications and wider communications; improved standards and best practices; and education, advocacy, and professional collaborations.
With over 1,700 members worldwide, and representation in the USA, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, ISMPP provides a common standard for writers specific to pure and applied medical science, medical device and equipment manufacturers, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and medical journals. ISMPP provides technical training and access to the esteemed Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) distinction, which requires a rigorous certification test every three years. ISMPP members receive access to employment opportunities, skills workshops and training seminars, the ISMPP annual conferences; and advocacy for professional medical writers.
At Whipbird Communications, our medical writers are active members of ISMPP and work to contribute to the community of medical writers worldwide.
