The Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP)
Formed in 2005, the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) addresses a growing need within the medical community. The articles, reports, and other materials presented in professional scientific and medical journals are carefully scrutinized and relied upon by professionals in the scientific, medical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and other industries, often using those materials as the basis for diagnoses and treatment plans. However, a growing range of third parties demands that medical publication professionals uphold the highest standards of integrity. To address these conflicting pressures on medical publication professionals, the ISMPP developed a professional designation, the Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP). The writers who have earned this credential are certified as having a high degree of expertise in the field and as being proficient in good publication practices. In addition, writers with the CMPP are committed to transparent and ethical standards of disseminating information and are leaders within their profession with respect to promoting and upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity.
